We met on Saturday, September 1, 2012.  Our circle of friends had a large degree of overlap, and on this particular date we found ourselves at a party at Chris and Annemarie Penny’s.  We’ve since determined that we’ve both attended at least a couple other parties previous to this, but this was the night we met.

While our initial meeting did not include a romantic walk on the beach or lovestruck hearts floating around our heads, we did have an enjoyable conversation and liked each other enough to connect later after the party via text and Facebook. We just chatted here and there over the next two and a half months before ever going out or doing anything together.

We started hanging out as friends in late November, and saw each other a couple of times for lunch or dinner. Our first real date, where we decided we were going out as a couple, was a New Year’s party at Debbie’s home (our Matron of Honor). The rest, as some say, is history. We were on different paths at the time, but neither of us wanted to stop seeing each other. The more we saw one another, the more our paths began to align. We’ve been happily together since that first date.
