Kids vs. Date Night

To all the families we’ve invited to this event, we’d like to first and foremost say that your children are welcome. We do not want anyone to feel excluded because they have to choose between joining us on our wedding day or staying home with the kids. That said, there are a few things you should consider before getting the kids decked out and packing them up to Bonsall…

The Fire Garden is not a place for kids to run around freely. There are lots of sculptures and art all around the place, many of which 1) are made of sharp metal and 2) light on fire. Also, as this is a private property, there are personal areas around the site that need to be respected, but little fingers might find very compelling to play with. There is an area on the ground in the main gathering place with small stones and pretty things. We’ve been told this is a sacred space, and asked directly by the owner to please have young children watched and tended to at all times throughout the entire site.

This is an evening event scheduled to go late into the night. There will only be light snacks served, children may find themselves becoming hungry, antsy, or bored (or all three), potentially taking your attentions away from fully enjoying the evening.

This will be largely a cocktail party, there will not be dedicated seating for people at tables to use as “home base”.

We strongly encourage everyone to consider this an excellent opportunity for Date Night. There will be less for you to worry about, and more freedom for you to interact with everyone without distraction.
